Rumors surrounding the next installment in Tom Holland’s Spider-Man IP have been quite erratic so far. While some suggested that the MCU might lean towards a more grounded story for Holland’s Peter, other reports alleged that the Cinematic giant is once again going for a multiversal epic.

According to one alleged leak, it seems the latter might be more in line with MCU’s scheme of things, which hasn’t sat well with fans, as most have been craving for a story that takes the character back to its roots.

With the film slated to release after Avengers: Doomsday, according to a production listing leak, the events of the Robert Downey Jr-led flick might directly influence it, which is allegedly titled, Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Per the leak, in the aftermath of Doomsday, the plot will see Peter Parker stepping away from his responsibilities as Spider-Man to focus on his personal life, but things go haywire once another threat emerges.

With stakes higher than ever, Peter reluctantly returns to his Spider-Man identity and finds himself teaming up with an unlikely ally to protect those he loves.
Moreover, it appears the story might be delving into the multiversal territory, given the potential involvement of Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man, alongside Michael Keaton‘s Vulture, and RDJ’s Doom. While it can’t be said for certain if the leak is true, as the release date of late October doesn’t match the one that has been announced, fans are hoping it’s the case, as the potential plot hasn’t succeeded in winning them over.
Although time will tell if it’s another multiversal story or not, Andrew Garfield’s potential inclusion doesn’t seem too far-fetched, given the actor’s stance on returning to the boots of Peter Parker.

One of the things that got Andrew Garfield on board for No Way Home was the narrative surrounding his Peter Parker, which wasn’t only confined to a glorified cameo. Similar to his reasoning behind the No Way Home return, the actor expressed (via Esquire) that he’d happily suit up again if the story serves his character right.
For sure, I would 100 percent come back if it was the right thing, if it’s additive to the culture, if there’s a great concept or something that hasn’t been done before that’s unique and odd and exciting and that you can sink your teeth into.
However, it’s also important to note that the release date on the alleged leak doesn’t match the official one, and considering the filming is set to kickstart next year, there’s a good chance this might not reflect on the end release.
