Cardi B Missed Out on Multi-Million Dollar “Call of Duty” Deal Due to “Stupid Decisions From the Past”
Cardi B recently revealed that her past mistakes cost her a lucrative opportunity with one of the most popular video game franchises in the world. The Bronx-born rapper opened up about missing out on a multi-million-dollar deal with Call of Duty due to legal issues stemming from actions she described as “stupid decisions.”
Cardi’s Regretful Revelation

On Sept. 27, Cardi took to Twitter to candidly share her disappointment, saying, “My stupid decisions from the past caused me to miss out on money now. I had a multi-million-dollar Call of Duty deal on the table that I couldn’t take because of court. Guys, think twice about those quick decisions! Lesson learned.”
The admission came just days after Cardi pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor charges related to a 2018 altercation at a Queens strip club. During the incident, the rapper admitted to paying $5,000 to a friend to attack a woman who worked at the club. The charges resulted in a three-year protective order and a sentence of 15 days of community service.
The Fallout From Legal Troubles
The timing of the case and its resolution directly impacted Cardi’s ability to sign the deal with Call of Duty, one of the gaming industry’s most anticipated releases of the year. The rapper’s lawyer, Drew Findling, explained that she opted to resolve the case rather than face a lengthy and distracting jury trial. “There are too many things that she has planned for her family, for her career, and for the community,” Findling said. “It’s been over four years, and Cardi has really moved to another part of her life.”
While Cardi has expressed regret over her past behavior, she also emphasized that those moments do not define her current self. Speaking with TMZ, she stated, “I’m looking forward to moving past this situation with my family and friends and getting back to the things I love the most — music and my fans.”
What Cardi Lost
The Call of Duty deal would have tied Cardi B’s brand to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, a first-person shooter developed by Infinity Ward and published by Activision. Scheduled for release on Oct. 22, 2022, the game is widely regarded as one of the biggest gaming launches of the year. Partnering with Call of Duty would have likely involved promotional campaigns, appearances, and exclusive content tied to the rapper’s image—a major opportunity for any artist.
The Bigger Picture
Despite the disappointment, Cardi’s story serves as a cautionary tale about the long-term impact of impulsive decisions. In her tweet, she urged fans to think twice before making quick choices, acknowledging the significant consequences she faced years later.
Moving Forward
Cardi is determined to move past this chapter in her life, focusing on her family, career, and community. As a Grammy-winning artist and global superstar, her resilience and transparency have allowed her to maintain strong connections with her fans.
The missed opportunity with Call of Duty is a sobering reminder that even at the height of success, the past can have a way of catching up. However, Cardi’s ability to own her mistakes and learn from them ensures that she’s only looking ahead—ready to seize even bigger opportunities in the future.
