Justin Baldoni is preparing for a major legal showdown after filing a $250 million defamation lawsuit against The New York Times over their December 21st report, which centered around sexual harassment and retaliation allegations from his Colleen Hoover co-star, Blake Lively. In a statement from his attorney, it was confirmed that Justin intends to release all relevant text messages as part of his legal defense and pursue a lawsuit against Blake Lively herself.
When asked about suing Blake Lively, Justin’s attorney responded with certainty: “Absolutely, you will,” revealing that the lawsuit is in progress. Justin, who is known for his advocacy for women and his belief in supporting them, expressed his willingness to share all private communications, stating, “I am more than willing to take every single text message that exists out there, lay them out, put them on a website for the world to see, have them see the truth and determine the truth themselves.”
In his lawsuit against The New York Times, filed on December 31st, Justin claims the newspaper failed to accurately report the facts, alleging that the outlet had reviewed thousands of private communications, but missed key evidence that would prove Blake Lively’s involvement in a smear campaign against him. His legal team argues that the report was “false, outrageous, and intentionally salacious.”
On the other hand, The New York Times responded to the lawsuit by asserting that their story was based on a thorough investigation and “meticulously and responsibly reported.” They stand by the article, which was based on original documents, including text messages and emails, which were cited accurately in their report.
