‘Superman’ Henry Cavill (the most handsome man in the world in 2022), star Bryce Dallas Howard and Oscar winner Sam Rockwell were given conical hats and lucky money at the premiere of the movie ‘Argylle the Super Spy’. How excited were their reactions?
Released on the occasion of the Lunar New Year of the Dragon, Argylle (original title: Argylle) is a Hollywood action blockbuster from the owner of the Kingsman series Matthew Vaughn. The film brings together a famous cast such as “Superman” of the DC Cinematic Universe Henry Cavill, “Jurassic Park” star Bryce Dallas Howard and Oscar winner Sam Rockwell as well as a special appearance by sexy singer Dua Lipa.
Henry Cavill, Bryce Dallas Howard and Sam Rockwell have traveled to many places around the world to promote the film. During their trip to Seoul, South Korea, on the eve of the Lunar New Year, the three Hollywood stars were delighted to receive Vietnamese conical hats and experience the culture of receiving lucky money on New Year’s Day. Henry Cavill, Bryce Dallas Howard and Sam Rockwell were all surprised to see a hat with their portraits drawn by a Vietnamese artist. Without hesitation, all three tried it on and expressed their love. Bryce Dallas Howard even posted a picture of the hat on her personal Instagram and thanked Vietnamese fans for giving her this special conical hat.
The three stars also received lucky money at the end of their conversation with Vietnamese reporters and were surprised to find cash inside. Henry Cavill also represented the film crew to say “Happy New Year” in Vietnamese.
Argylle The Super Spy is considered a connecting film in the Kingsman Universe directed by Matthew Vaughn. The 2020 period when the whole world “froze” together. The famous British director had an unforgettable time with his family when he selected a series of films for his wife – former supermodel Claudia Schiffer – and two daughters to enjoy. Vaughn’s daughters went crazy over the 1959 classic film by director Alfred Hitchcock “North by Northwest”. The film is about an ordinary man who accidentally gets caught up in an unusual adventure of spies. “And I thought I needed to make a movie like that for my daughters,” Vaughn recalled.
At the same time, a novel called Argylle from writer Elly Conway was sent to Vaughn, about the adventures of a super spy. Combined with his daughters casually suggesting that he create a “lighter” film than his previous works. Argylle was written straight to the point, and “straight” was not in Vaughn’s vocabulary. Instead, he developed a “fantasy within a fantasy” screenplay, in which the role of Elly Conway was given to Bryce Dallas Howard (Jurassic World series). Elly is a reclusive female writer, content with her best-selling spy novel Argylle.
But introverts rarely live in peace, and she is soon drawn into an unexpected adventure after discovering that the details of her imaginary scenario are disturbingly similar to the real-life spy world, from the villainous organization to the spy Argylle (Henry Cavill) as if he stepped out of the pages of the book.
With Argylle, instead of the familiar adventure investigation story, Matthew Vaughn and screenwriter Jason Fuchs promise to innovate the spy action genre by approaching the script full of “twists”. Elly Conway’s escape journey with spy Aidan (Sam Rockwell) parallels Argylle’s memorable missions, their paths will intersect at both humorous and ironic intersections.
Alongside Henry Cavill as Argylle and Elly Conway, Sam Rockwell plays Elly’s sidekick Aidan. Meanwhile, the film’s villain is played by Bryan Cranston. Legendary Samuel L. Jackson returns to work with Matthew Vaughn after Kingsman in a mysterious role as Alfred Solomon.
After her successful cameo in Barbie, Dua Lipa will have her first major film role as LaGrange, the beautiful criminal and Argylle’s arch-nemesis. Suicide Squad and Fast & Furious star John Cena will play Argylle’s muscular friend Wyatt.
Screened in Vietnam since the first day of the Lunar New Year, “Argylle” has not been able to compete with two Vietnamese films, “Mai” and “Gap lai chi bau”. However, the film is still an option for audiences who love Hollywood action comedies at the beginning of the new year. To date, “Argylle” has earned 6.8 billion VND in the Vietnamese market, according to data from Box Office Vietnam.
