In every game I broadcast, I choose one player who makes me say, “Let’s go!” That player is awarded the prestigious LFG Player of the Game honor. This week, it’s my pleasure to announce that the LFG Player of the Game for Week 10 is Brock Purdy, the quarterback of the San Francisco 49ers.
Brock Purdy had an incredible performance on Sunday, leading the 49ers to a hard-fought victory. He threw for over 330 yards in a game that wasn’t filled with big, flashy moments, but instead was marked by a controlled, efficient, and poise-filled display of quarterbacking. Despite the high pressure of the situation—especially with the game hanging in the balance—Purdy didn’t flinch.
One play that truly stood out came in the third quarter when Purdy faced a free rusher barreling toward him. Instead of panicking, he calmly adjusted in the pocket and, with perfect timing, dropped a beautiful dime over the top to Christian McCaffrey. McCaffrey, who has missed some time this season, ran a sharp route, and Purdy trusted him to make a play. The result? A perfect pass, right in McCaffrey’s hands, setting up a big gain and keeping the offense moving.
“I knew Christian was going to be there,” Purdy said after the game. “That’s a route we’ve run a lot over the years. He knew where he needed to be, and I trusted him to make the play. That’s just a product of all the reps we’ve had together. It was great to have him back out there.”
But it wasn’t just about one play. With Deebo Samuel and Christian McCaffrey both back on the field, the offense looked much more dangerous. Having these two dynamic playmakers creates mismatches all over the field. “Having both of those guys back is huge,” Purdy explained. “When we go up against man coverage, they can win their matchups, which opens things up for everyone else. It makes my job easier knowing they’re out there.”
The game wasn’t without its challenges, though. Purdy had to rally the team in the final minutes after Jake Moody, the 49ers’ kicker, missed three field goals earlier in the game. With less than two minutes remaining, Purdy took control and orchestrated a clutch drive, getting the offense within range for Moody to attempt a potential game-winning field goal.
“We trust Jake, even when things don’t go his way,” Purdy said. “We know what he’s capable of, and we just focused on getting him close enough to hit the kick. It was all about finishing the drive, and we got it done.”
In a season full of ups and downs, Purdy’s performance was a testament to his poise and leadership. Despite the mistakes earlier in the game, he kept his composure and delivered when his team needed him the most. This was the kind of performance that the 49ers will need to go deep in the playoffs.
It wasn’t just Purdy’s passing that impressed; it was the overall way he handled the situation. He managed the clock, trusted his playmakers, and showed a level of maturity that belies his years. After the win, Purdy reflected on how his offense had evolved over the course of the season. “Getting these guys back and healthy has been huge. We’re in a good rhythm now. It’s all about keeping this momentum going.”
With the 49ers’ victory, they moved closer to solidifying their place as one of the top teams in the NFC. And it’s clear that with Brock Purdy at the helm, the 49ers are a team nobody wants to face in the postseason.
Congratulations, Brock Purdy, on being named Tom Brady’s LFG Player of the Game for Week 10. Your performance was nothing short of impressive, and it’s clear you’ve got what it takes to lead this team to greatness. Enjoy the win, and keep doing what you’re doing. Go Niners!
