The Chiefs triumphed over the Browns with a 21-7 victory, but the injury forced Patrick to leave the game midway through the fourth quarter. Teammate Carson Wentz took over, helping secure the win for Kansas City.

Patrick Opens Up About the Injury

In his postgame interview, Patrick Mahomes addressed his injury and the decision to be replaced by Wentz. “It’s hard to say right now,” he said. “Obviously, still adrenaline rolling, and usually, it’s the day after when you get a good sense of it. But I feel like I could have finished the game in different circumstances, but I thought the smart decision was to put Carson in. He’s played a lot of football, and he finished the game well.”

Patrick, who was trying to make a play late in the game, explained the details of the injury: “I was trying to run up in the pocket, obviously, on fourth down, trying to make a play happen. As I threw the ball, I kind of got hit in the back. I haven’t seen it, but it felt like someone hit me from behind as well, and I got rolled up on.”

Despite the setback, Patrick remained hopeful about his recovery. “I tried to bounce back up, but obviously, it hurt a little bit. Now, I’ll just get after the rehab part of it and try to be ready for next week,” he said.
