In a heartfelt Instagram video, Brittany Mahomes opened up about a terrifying experience involving her 23-month-old son, Patrick Bron, who suffered a severe allergic reaction shortly after being introduced to nuts for the first time. The incident occurred in August 2023 and resulted in an emergency room visit that underscored the importance of food allergy awareness.

Brittany, who is expecting her third child with Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, explained that they were cautious about introducing new foods, particularly given that their 3-year-old daughter, Sterling, has allergies to peanuts, milk, and eggs. She described how they began with a small packet of nut powder mixed into Bron’s bottle. However, within about 30 minutes, things took a drastic turn.

“He became very irritable and fussy,” Brittany recalled. When she checked, she found that Bron was covered in hives and welts. “It did get up to his face area, which then started the panic inside of me,” she said, prompting an urgent rush to the emergency room.

The emotional distress of seeing her son so uncomfortable was overwhelming for Brittany, who described it as one of the scariest moments of her life. Patrick shared his own fears during the incident, emphasizing the seriousness of the situation. Fortunately, medical professionals were able to provide immediate help.

With Sterling already navigating food allergies, Brittany felt somewhat prepared, but the experience was still a stark reminder of the dangers of allergen exposure. “I know the daily fear of accidental exposure to allergens and how crucial it is to carry life-saving treatments like epinephrine everywhere,” she stated, highlighting the need for vigilance in managing food allergies.
