What’s up, guys! The UFC Fight Night card in Abu Dhabi just wrapped up, and let me tell you, it was an absolute banger. From start to finish, this card was loaded with insane finishes and unbelievable performances. But the main event, Petr Yan vs. Deiveson Figueiredo? Pure fireworks. Let’s dive into this card and break down everything that went down!
Main Event: Petr Yan vs. Deiveson Figueiredo
Petr Yan vs. Deiveson Figueiredo was an absolute war, folks. Yan won the fight by a unanimous decision, 50-45, but trust me when I say that this was far from a one-sided beatdown. This was one of those rare 50-45 decisions where every round was competitive, and both fighters were showing elite-level skill.
The fight started off a little dicey for Yan, who got taken down early. But as we’ve seen in the past, this is when Yan is at his weakest, and he only gets better as the fight goes on. In the second round, Yan started finding his rhythm, landing a bunch of kicks and switching stances with some slick combos. Figueiredo wasn’t backing down, though—he managed to land a right hand that seemed to slow Yan down for a moment. But then, Yan pulled off one of the smoothest takedowns in the sport: a step-in trip that slammed Figueiredo to the mat.
By the third round, Yan’s wrestling was on point. Figueiredo got another early takedown, but this time, Yan reversed it much more easily. The highlight of the round was a perfectly timed uppercut that dropped Figueiredo hard. Figueiredo was constantly ducking for takedowns, and those uppercuts were starting to land clean. Yan even mixed in some short flying knees from his lead leg to punish Figueiredo’s tendency to duck low.
In the fourth, Figueiredo got a little momentum back. He managed to drop Yan with a straight right hand, and it was clear that Figueiredo still had serious power in his punches. But Yan wasn’t rattled. He came back in the fifth with a spinning elbow from the clinch that was a thing of beauty. Then Figueiredo responded with a question mark kick and another clean right hand. The action was back and forth all the way to the final bell.
What an incredible main event. Both fighters showed heart, grit, and elite technique. Yan definitely earned a title shot next, whether that’s against Merab or Umar, but it’s clear Figueiredo still has plenty left in the tank. As for Figueiredo, a fight against Cory Sandhagen seems like the perfect matchup, and I’m definitely looking forward to seeing him back in the octagon soon.
Yan Xiaonan vs. Tabatha Ricci
Moving on to the co-main event, Yan Xiaonan put on a clinic against Tabatha Ricci. Yan dominated this fight with her striking, picking Ricci apart with precision and power. Every time Ricci tried to close the distance, Yan was there with a counter, landing heavy right straights and uppercuts. Yan’s ability to intercept Ricci’s attacks and keep her at range was on full display. It was a total mismatch in the striking department.
Yan was in complete control throughout the fight. She should definitely be in the title picture soon, and a fight with Amanda Lemos would be amazing. As for Tabatha Ricci, I think a fight against Luana Pinheiro is a good next step for her.
Muslim Salikhov vs. Song Kenan
Now, let’s talk about the “Kung Fu King,” Muslim Salikhov, who delivered one of the most beautiful knockouts of the night. Salikhov landed a perfectly timed wheel kick to Song Kenan’s jaw in the first round. The technique was flawless—great form, balance, and extension. Salikhov’s striking is just on another level. You could see Kenan was doing well before the kick, but Salikhov’s ability to pull that off at the highest level is what makes him such a dangerous fighter. The Kung Fu King continues to impress.
Gabriela Fernandes vs. Wang Cong
In one of the biggest upsets of the night, Gabriela Fernandes shocked the world with a stunning victory over Wang Cong. Not only did she beat Wang, but she dropped the former kickboxing champion with her striking. After getting rocked by a head kick, Wang was forced to fight on instinct, throwing out combinations while clearly wobbled. Fernandes capitalized on that and dropped Wang again with a clean left straight before finishing with a nasty Naka choke.
This was a huge win for Fernandes, who proved that she’s a force to be reckoned with in the flyweight division. Wang Cong still has a lot of potential, but Fernandes showed that she’s one to watch out for moving forward.
Carlos Ulberg vs. Volkan Oezdemir
Carlos Ulberg got a solid win over Volkan Oezdemir, showing that he’s a top-tier light heavyweight contender. Ulberg was sharp with his counter hooks and offensive jabs, keeping Oezdemir on the back foot the entire time. Oezdemir just seemed a step behind throughout the fight, and Ulberg’s movement and fast hands kept him from landing anything too damaging. Ulberg stuffed a late takedown attempt with ease, and it was clear he had this fight under control.
Ulberg should face a ranked opponent next, and I think a matchup with Alexander Rakic would be a banger. As for Oezdemir, I think a fight with Dominic Reyes would be a good next step.
Other Standout Moments
Zhang Mingyang vs. Ozzy Diaz: Zhang Mingyang TKO’d Ozzy Diaz in the first round with a beautiful elbow and counter right hand. This was another insane finish and a great statement for Mingyang, who now has 18 first-round finishes to his name.
Suong Yu vs. Barang: Suong Yu got the decision win, but this was probably the least exciting fight on the card. Yu was clearly the better wrestler, but Barang’s lack of activity made it tough to stay invested in this one.
Dong Hun Cho vs. KIRO Sahola: Dong Hun Cho knocked KIRO Sahola out cold in the first round with a nasty overhand right. It was a quick, explosive finish, and Cho’s power is definitely something to keep an eye on moving forward.
Dr. Xi Ming vs. Fong Shaoan: Dr. Xi Ming delivered a massive upset in the third round, knocking out the heavy favorite Fong Shaoan with a brutal head kick. The precision of the kick was perfect, and it just goes to show how one small mistake in MMA can change the entire fight.
Final Thoughts
What an incredible UFC card, guys. From the main event to the undercard, every fight delivered something memorable. Petr Yan vs. Deiveson Figueiredo was an epic battle, and I can’t wait to see where both of these guys go next. Yan is definitely ready for another shot at the title, while Figueiredo showed he’s still a force at flyweight.
Overall, I’d give this card a solid 9/10. There were some lulls, but the highs were extremely high. Can’t wait for the next one. If you enjoyed the fights, be sure to hit that like button, subscribe with notifications, and I’ll see you in the next video!
