Naomi Campbell is addressing the swirling rumors of a feud with Rihanna, sparked by a viral video from New York Fashion Week. In a candid interview with the New York Times, the supermodel firmly stated, “I’m not about to let the world pitch two Black women against each other. We are two women with two children, mothers.”
The speculation began when a video captured Rihanna seemingly bypassing Naomi to greet former British Vogue editor Edward Enninful, leading to social media chatter about potential tension between the two stars. Further fueling the rumors, Naomi and stylist Law Roach participated in a TikTok trend that highlighted a “demure” fashion style, which some interpreted as a dig at Rihanna’s bold appearance at the show in a crystal mesh dress.
In response to the speculation, Law Roach took to social media, clarifying, “What’s so funny to me is that in this universe of the internet and social media… y’all always think something has to be something, but something ain’t always something. Sometimes, something is just nothing.”
This isn’t the first instance of rumored discord; back in 2017, Naomi and Rihanna unfollowed each other on Instagram, prompting further inquiries about their relationship. However, Naomi reassured fans on Watch What Happens Live, saying, “I don’t have beef, especially with Black women who I think support and are powerful. We’re all in the same struggle.”
Through her comments, Naomi emphasizes the importance of solidarity among women in the entertainment industry, urging fans to focus on unity rather than division. As both women continue to shine in their careers, Campbell’s message serves as a reminder of the strength found in supporting one another.
