So, David’s friend Jeff comes out and says, “Yo, he threw me!” Everyone’s confused and asks, “What do you mean, Jeff?” Jeff points to a video and says, “Look at the guy in the spinning thing—it’s David, he threw me!” Everyone was like, “No way, David did that?” David didn’t respond, but then Jeff drops another bomb: “Oh, and David’s not helping with my medical bills this time.” Suddenly, everyone’s like, “David, really?” David had no choice but to speak up. He says, “This is the worst thing that’s ever happened to me. Jeff had the audacity to get hurt. Shout out to my boy, love him, but come on, bro!”
This was the moment David started facing some serious backlash. People were like, “David, you realize this isn’t about you, right?” Forget that—people started going back and reviewing his old videos, and guess what? They found even more troubling behavior.
Here’s where things get really ugly. Jeff ends up suing David. I’m not sure what happened after that, but it looks like David dragged the lawsuit out in court. Meanwhile, people began digging into David’s past videos and discovered he’d been harsh toward his friends in other situations—like making fun of their height repeatedly, even after his friend had told him it made him uncomfortable. David shrugged it off and said, “You’re out of here if you can’t take a joke.”
Then came the infamous “black friend” incident. You know where this is going. David thought it’d be hilarious to do blackface in some videos. He said, “Isn’t this funny?” But his friend didn’t think so. Then David took it even further: “I’ve got a girl for you to kiss, but she’s going to wear a mask,” he told his friend. The catch? The person under the mask wasn’t a girl—it was a middle-aged man. David laughed and said, “Ha, we got you!” His friend was visibly uncomfortable, and that “prank” was way darker than it appeared.
You see, his friend Seth is from Compton, California, which is a tough area, and in that neighborhood, people aren’t too accepting of guys kissing other guys. Seth tells David, “I told you this wasn’t cool, man. You know where I’m from.” But David didn’t get it. He doubled down, even going on a podcast and saying, “My favorite prank I ever did was making Seth kiss another dude because I knew people from his neighborhood wouldn’t like it.” That’s David for you—completely unaware of the consequences of his actions.
Then it got even worse. David filmed his friend Trisha while she had serious arguments with her significant other, despite her telling him multiple times, “Stop filming, these are personal arguments.” But David didn’t listen. At one point, he even filmed her in the shower. She was like, “What are you doing, David?” But he just kept recording.
Soon after, Business Insider dropped a major investigation. They found an old vlog where David and his friends invited some college girls over. David’s friends were weird, and one of them—let’s call him “Corny Guy”—was being downright inappropriate. He kept giving drinks to one of the girls, even though she was underage. Things escalated when Corny Guy took the girl into a room with another girl, and the worst possible thing happened. David kept filming. The group tried to play it off, but one of the girls came out and said, “Something bad just happened, and I’m a witness.”
David and his friends tried to cover it up, but the evidence was too much. The girl couldn’t even walk, and David was heard talking about how wild things got. Eventually, it was confirmed that something illegal happened. David tried to apologize, but his first apology was an utter failure. He said, “It’s not my fault.” People were like, “David, that’s not going to work.” So he issued a second apology, this time admitting it was his fault because those were his friends and he shouldn’t have allowed them to do what they did. It was a better apology, but honestly, the first one told you everything you needed to know about David.
That second apology was enough for some people to forgive him, but not for others. His YouTube empire started to crumble. People were like, “Nah, David, that’s not enough.” So, David stopped posting on YouTube.
But don’t think David learned his lesson. He didn’t just take a break; he made a business move. He switched to Snapchat, where he started posting again and making money. His views weren’t as high as on YouTube, but he was still raking in the cash. David essentially rebranded and laid low for a while, cutting his losses and starting fresh on a new platform.
So yeah, that’s where David Dobrik is now. And here’s my request: I’m not very active on social media, so I missed a lot of these crazy YouTube moments. Let me know if there’s another YouTuber you want me to cover. We can vote on who’s the worst of the worst at the end.
