Umar Nurmagomedov will fight Merab Dvalishvili at UFC 311 with a broken arm ???
The information was accidentally revealed during an interview with Umar Nurmagomedov, where he decided to fight at UFC 311 with a broken arm.
Umar Nurmagomedov had previously expressed concern about Merab Dvalishvili, the bantamweight champion, potentially pulling out of UFC 311. However, according to new information, it seems that Umar may be facing more risks than expected.
In a recent interview, the Dagestani fighter specifically revealed details about the injury he sustained at the end of 2024.
“When I was in Dagestan, I punched something with my hand. I went to the doctor, and they did an X-ray, and they said, ‘Your hand is broken.’ After about 20 days, I checked again, and at that point, I was only running to keep my body in good shape. I was just trying to run and shadowbox. After another 20 days, everything had improved.”
Umar Nurmagomedov confirmed that he broke his arm just a few months before fighting Merab Dvalishvili
“You’re crazy, you can’t fight like that,” my manager said. When the UFC asked me again, they called and asked if I wanted to fight Merab. Of course, I said yes. I called Ali and urged him to prepare the paperwork for the fight.”
At this point, people remembered that at the end of November, Umar posted a photo on his social media with the caption: “I have a small fracture in my arm and can’t fight in January. Now my arm is fine and I’m ready for any offers.”
However, less than a week later, UFC 311 was announced with Umar Nurmagomedov set to challenge Merab Dvalishvili. The back-and-forth comments between Umar and Merab to hype up the fight seemed to make the audience temporarily forget about the condition of the Dagestani fighter.
Of course, the information about Umar’s injury now only holds significance from a professional standpoint. With the fight officially announced, the only option for the fighter born in 1996 is to overcome the injury and deliver the most convincing performance possible.
