UFC Legend Khabib Nurmagomedov Has Shocking Advice For Dustin Poirier
Khabib Nurmagomedov and Dustin Poirier
Dustin Poirier is a fan favorite and has delivered some major fights for fans, including two victories over UFC star Conor McGregor. Despite these accomplishments and his dominant performances, Khabib Nurmagomedov believes Poirier should retire. Having retired himself four years ago, Khabib thinks Poirier should stop fighting, as he’s now part of the “old school” era.
When ‘The Diamond’ fought Islam Makhachev for the lightweight title, many believed it would be his retirement fight. However, Poirier is still searching for his final showdown. Despite this, former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, who retired undefeated at the peak of his career, weighed in on Poirier’s decision to continue. Speaking with Henry Cejudo on the Pound 4 Pound Show, Khabib said,
“I think Poirier has to stop fighting. I think he’s finished. Justin Gaethje, Khabib, Dustin Poirier, Tony Ferguson, this is old school, brother. Stop fighting. We have to recognize real things.”
The former lightweight champion also referred to himself as an “old school” fighter, alongside Gaethje and Ferguson. However, since retiring, Khabib has been enjoying his time coaching his teammates.
