Jake Paul’s speed skater girlfriend has revealed what she really thought of him when the pair met.

Paul and Jutta Leerdam began dating in last year, and went public in April, with Paul continuing his social media and boxing careers with Leerdam working on her skating and influencer work.

Cleveland native Paul is preparing to fight Mike Tyson next week, with the boxing legend having pulled out of the original date due to health issues and Paul instead taking on Mike Perry instead.

But the bout will finally take place on Friday, and a Netflix documentary titled Countdown: Paul vs. Tyson has been made detailing the journey of the fight.

And in episode two of the series, Leerdam appears and talks through her relationship with Paul, including a detail of how she didn’t in fact like him when they first crossed paths.

‘Jake sent me a DM on Instagram and asked if I wanted to be on his podcast,’ she said.

‘When he contacted me online, I thought, “What an arrogant idiot. He thinks he can do anything, but he won’t get me”.

‘[But] We really clicked in these two fast-paced worlds on a deep and super personal level. Since that moment, we have been inseparable.’

Paul added: ‘She thought I was a nasty guy, which I am. But then she understood my humour.’

The 27-year-old has taken his boxing seriously since his first professional fight in 2020. He has lost one fight – to Tommy Fury – in 11, but could be set for his toughest test yet.

Tyson, though 58, is a former world champion and regarded as one of the greatest heavyweight champions of all time.

He had been plagued with health issues this year and has not boxed competitively since 2020 in an exhibition bout with Roy Jones Jnr, but remains dangerous going into the Paul fight.

Olympic silver medallist and six-time world champion Leerdam revealed how she feels watching Paul in the ring.

The 25-year-old, who boasts 4.5million followers on Instagram, admitted that it scares her watching her partner fight.

‘I’m a little scared, but I’m also an athlete and I’m competitive,’ she said. ‘So he has to win.

‘I think, “Hey, stay away from my boyfriend”.

‘But it’s also the sport, so I understand that. I’m still sitting here with mixed feelings.’
