Chris Eubank Jr has lashed out at Conor Benn ahead of their potential grudge match later this year.
Eubank Jr, 35, told Mail Sport over the weekend that he was ready to finally face Benn, 28, and declared that an announcement on his next fight would be made ‘in the next couple of weeks’.
But the fight is yet to be finalised, and Eubank Jr has now explained the reason behind the hold-up in a furious rant directed at Benn and his promoter Eddie Hearn on social media.
He wrote on X on Tuesday evening: ‘Just so you all know… these two rats @ConorNigel & @EddieHearn are now trying to enforce a rehydration restriction on me to make the fight. They talk a big game but when it actually comes down to it… just a pair of pussies.’
According to ESPN, Eubank Jr’s grudge match with Benn is being targeted for April 26 in London.
It is understood that the fight would take place at the middleweight limit of 160lbs with a rehydration clause of 170lbs.

But Eubank Jr has made it clear he is not happy with having his weight restricted for the second weigh-in, which would occur on the morning of the fight.
It did not take long for Benn to hit back as he accused Eubank Jr of ducking his middleweight rivals, and claimed his fellow Brit’s team had already agreed to the rehydration clause.
Benn responded: ‘You soft p***k I’m coming up 2 weights to fight you and I’m the pussy? 10lbs rehydration because I’m already fighting a middleweight but you want to get in the ring as a light heavyweight? You are scared to death of (middleweight champion) Janibek (Alimkhanuly) and (Hamzah) Sheeraz so I’m your only option satsuma head.’
He added: ‘And this is something you and your team agreed to on Saturday so don’t try and make out this is new. Stop being a pussy and sign the contract.’
Eubank Jr and Benn were first due to meet in October 2022 but the bout was cancelled on fight week after Benn failed two drugs tests.
Benn insisted he was innocent of any wrongdoing, but was provisionally suspended and unable to fight in the UK after relinquishing his British boxing licence.
He had his suspension lifted in November after an independent panel ruled it was ‘not comfortably satisfied’ that it had been proven that he had committed an anti-doping violation.
Benn is now cleared to fight in the UK and finally taking on Eubank Jr looked likely to be his next fight.
However, it appears that negotiations have hit a stumbling block over whether a rehydration clause will be imposed.
Should the fight be scrapped, Benn would be in line for a welterweight title shot against WBC champion Mario Barrios.
WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman claimed last month that Benn ‘deserves’ the chance to become a champion, despite his previous failed drugs tests.
