Argylle: Super Spy is a movie starring famous Hollywood names and has the ambition to become a big screen blockbuster in early 2024, but the results are not as expected.
With a budget of over $200 million, and a cast of famous names such as Bryce Dallas Howard, John Cena, Dua Lipa, Henry Cavill, Samuel L. Jackson, Sam Rockwell,… directed by Matthew Vaughn (co-producer of Kingsman, Kick-Ass), ‘Argylle’ only earned $35.3 million after its opening weekend ($18 million in North America and $17.3 million internationally).
In addition, the film also received a 35% rotten tomato rating on Rotten Tomatoes and only scored 6.1/10 on IMDb.
The film follows Elly Conway, a reclusive spy writer who lives happily at home with her cat Alfie. Her hobby is “typing,” creating unique detective stories. However, Elly’s peaceful life is turned upside down when her work, “Argylle,” becomes famous and unexpectedly overlaps with reality.
This success puts Elly in danger when her fictional story of spy Argylle begins to become reality. She becomes the target of dangerous and unpredictable forces. To protect herself, Elly is forced to become a super spy, where the world between fiction and reality becomes blurred.
In the dangerous journey, Elly not only faces the danger from the global spy organization but also has to protect herself from the pursuit of the villain. She and her pet cat Alfie go through difficult challenges, racing against time to decode the secret and prevent the dark plot.
Back in the real world, Elly unexpectedly becomes an intelligence agent when her fan is involved in the spy world. She is drawn into a battle between dark forces and must use her literary talent to face the challenge.
From spectacular fights around the world to thrilling action sequences, the film creates a chaotic picture where the line between Elly Conway’s fantasy and reality becomes unclear.
Although not highly rated by critics, the film is still worth looking forward to by fans of action movies or famous actors and characters appearing in it. Argylle will be shown on the first day of Tet (February 10, 2024) at cinemas in Vietnam.
