Celebrities are putting their pockets where their mouths are in the aftermath of the California wildfires! Beyoncé and Jamie Lee Curtis are two of the most recent A-listers to pledge over $1 million in relief efforts. Others, like The Game, are volunteering their time, and some entertainers, like Halle Berry, have donated essentials such as clothing.
Here’s a rundown of how Hollywood is stepping up for Los Angeles County after thousands of emergency workers fought at least five fires in the last week.
Beyoncé Puts Up Millions For Los Angeles Wildfires Relief
They say everything is bigger in Texas! Well, Houston’s very own Beyoncé kept the same energy with her recent philanthropic efforts. On Sunday (January 12), the singer’s foundation, BeyGOOD, announced the launch of its L.A. Fire Relief Fund and a $2.5 million donation from Queen Bey. The announcement’s caption on Instagram explained how the money would be used for families in the Altadena and Pasadena areas. “Los Angeles, we stand with you,” the post said.
The fund is earmarked to aid families in the Altadena/Pasadena area who lost their homes, and to churches and community centers to address the immediate needs of those affected by the wildfires,” the caption explained.
Jamie Lee Curtis Donates $1 Million
Like Beyoncé, Jamie Lee Curtis pledged six figures last week to help with the impact of the California wildfires. Unlike Bey, though, Jamie is a resident of one of the hardest-hit neighbors, Palisades. Lee has shared several posts on her Instagram feed about the fires burning in L.A. county.
However, on January 9, the actress revealed she, her husband, and her children would be donating $1 million to relief efforts through their Family Foundation. Lee pledged the generous amount despite her own home and neighborhood streets being unaffected.
On January 11, Lee updated her IG followers about her first donation distributions to the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) Foundation, Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, California Community Foundation Wildfire Recovery Fund, and the Red Cross of LA County.
Celebrities Are Also Sharing Their Losses Amid Raging Wildfires
According to CNN, since the fires began last week Tuesday, at least 24 people have died. Dozens are reportedly missing, and tens of thousands have been evacuated from their homes while entire neighbors have been flattened by fires in areas near Pasadena and Pacific Palisades.
Two fires—the Eaton and Palisades ones—are now known as the second and fourth most destructive wildfires in the state’s history. On Monday (January 13), the Los Angeles Fire Department announced that the Palisades fire had only been 14% contained after spreading to over 23,000 acres. More than 1,200 structures have been destroyed, and over 200 have been damaged
While some celebrities are providing aid during this time, others are picking up the pieces from their losses. Last week, Beyoncé’s mother, Tina Knowles, shared the heartbreaking loss of her Malibu bungalow.

Paris Hilton and Jhene Aiko also opened up about their homes burning down last week. The singer even slid into The Shade Room’s Instagram comment section to counter trolls downplaying the celebrities’ grieving losses in the wildfires—and used Paris’ name to prove her point.
Most recently, celeb hairstyle Jonathan Wright revealed that Keyshia Cole lost her home in the wildfires.
