Whoopi Goldberg ‘The View’ HOST EXPLODES CRYING FACING DEFAMATION LAWSUIT After TRASHING Bakery LIVE | HO
Whoopi Goldberg, a longtime co-host of The View, has recently found herself embroiled in a heated controversy after remarks she made about a Staten Island bakery on national television.
The fallout has led to widespread criticism, community backlash, and even discussions of a potential defamation lawsuit against the outspoken television personality.
The controversy began when Whoopi claimed on The View that a Staten Island bakery refused to fulfill an order she placed for her birthday dessert.
According to Goldberg, the bakery cited equipment failure as the reason they couldn’t complete her request, but she implied political bias may have been at play when another order for the same dessert was reportedly accepted under a different name.
Without explicitly naming the bakery, her comments quickly went viral, and internet sleuths deduced the bakery in question was Holtermann’s, a 146-year-old institution beloved by the Staten Island community.
Goldberg’s allegations sparked outrage among the bakery’s loyal patrons. Many perceived her remarks as an unfair attack on a small, family-run business with a longstanding reputation for excellent service.
Holtermann’s denied the accusations, explaining that an aging boiler used for baking had temporarily broken down, making it impossible to guarantee the order would be fulfilled in time.
In response to Goldberg’s remarks, Staten Island rallied around Holtermann’s. Customers lined up in droves outside the bakery to show their support, with many expressing disdain for Goldberg’s comments. Staten Island Borough President Vito Fossella also stepped in, holding a press conference to defend the bakery.
“This family has worked tirelessly for generations to serve this community,” Fossella said. “They’ve built an impeccable reputation, and it’s disheartening to see them targeted on such a massive platform.”
