BREAKING: Dallas Cowboys Announce Devastating Hamstring Injury Update On Superstar QB Dak Prescott Amid Disastrous Season | HO

The Dallas Cowboys received the worst possible injury update on star quarterback Dak Prescott, six days after he suffered a hamstring injury in a Week 9 road loss to the Atlanta Falcons.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Dak Prescott has decided to have a season-ending procedure on his hamstring, which suffered a partial tear. Schefter added that the 31-year-old is seeing a specialist in New York, and the surgery would likely keep him sidelined for four months, well beyond the end of the season.

Prescott left the fourth quarter of the Cowboys’ 27-21 loss to the Falcons, and backup Cooper Rush had to finish out the game. The 3-5 Cowboys host the surging 6-2 Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.

Prescott signed a four-year contract extension worth $240 million in the offseason after months of back-and-forth negotiations. His season ends with a 64.7 completion percentage for 1,978 yards, 11 touchdowns and eight interceptions.

Dak Prescott has been dealt a bad hand on the injury front this decade. He suffered a season-ending ankle injury in Week 5 of the 2020 season against the New York Giants and missed five games in 2022 with a broken thumb.

And now, Dallas must finish the second half of a miserable 2024 campaign without their star quarterback. Rush is 5-1 as a starter with Dallas, but this year’s group is nothing like the talented squad he got to enjoy in 2022.

Dak Prescott’s Injury Ends Cowboys’ Playoff Hopes

The Cowboys already faced a long shot of reaching the postseason with a 3-5 record. But losing the franchise star, with a daunting second-half schedule ahead, all but destroys any realistic hope of sneaking in.

This team was underachieving with the Pro Bowl quarterback engineering the offense. Major changes are needed in Big D beyond this season, but Jerry Jones’ history tells us he’ll simply run it back with the same roster and coaching staff.
