Gypsy Rose Blanchard is opening up in her first TV interview since revealing she is expecting her first child. The 32-year-old, who gained national attention after serving eight years in prison for her role in the death of her mother, Dee Blanchard, is now embracing a new chapter in her life as she prepares for motherhood.
In a candid conversation, Gypsy shared her excitement and emotions about the pregnancy. “I am happy to announce that I am 11 weeks pregnant,” she said, admitting that while the news came as a surprise, it has also brought her great joy. “At first, I was very nervous, but now I’m very excited.”
The pregnancy announcement marks a significant turn in Gypsy’s life, which has been filled with both hardship and media attention. After years of an abusive childhood under her mother’s control, Gypsy was convicted of helping orchestrate Dee Blanchard’s murder. Following her release from prison, Gypsy has been navigating the challenges of starting fresh, including undergoing cosmetic procedures, filing for divorce from her ex-husband, and rekindling her relationship with boyfriend Ken Kker.
Gypsy also addressed the public’s concern about her ability to be a mother, acknowledging the scrutiny she faces. “With my past, people may question if I should be a mother or have children in my care,” she said. “But I know right from wrong, and I’ve learned from my mistakes.”
Reflecting on her childhood, Gypsy expressed her determination to give her child the experiences and love she never received. “I want my child to have everything I never had growing up,” she said. “All those little milestones like going on a first date or riding a bike, I want my child to experience those things.”
She also touched on the difficult reality of explaining her past to her child. “I know this question will come up one day, and when it does, Ken and I will sit down and have that conversation as honestly as possible,” Gypsy shared. “It’s something I’ve been thinking about for a long time.”
Despite her openness about her pregnancy, Gypsy made it clear that she does not want her child to be thrust into the public eye. “Once the baby is born, I feel strongly that I don’t want my child in front of a camera, unless it’s for home videos. I want to protect my child from this cruel and unsafe world.”
As Gypsy embarks on this new chapter of motherhood, she remains focused on providing a loving and supportive environment for her growing family, despite the challenges she continues to face.
