Answering YOUR Questions | Tom Aspinall - YouTube

1. Cardio Concerns: How Do You Keep Up Your Stamina?

A lot of you have asked about my cardio, especially since my longest UFC fight so far has only lasted about six minutes. But trust me, I train for 25-minute, five-round fights every single time. The real issue isn’t my endurance—it’s that my opponents just can’t handle my power and speed. I’m ready for a 25-minute battle when the time comes, but if I can keep finishing fights in the first or second round, I’ll gladly take that.

2. Is the Heavyweight Division Thriving?

Some of you are curious about the future of the heavyweight division and whether any new talent is emerging. Right now, the pool is smaller than in other weight classes, but I’m keeping an eye on the top 10 or top 15 fighters. I’m not focused on the newcomers just yet, but I’ll be watching to see how the division evolves over the next few years.

3. Who’s Your Favorite Fighter to Watch?

As an MMA fan myself, I love watching fighters who bring excitement and energy to the cage. Right now, Alex Pereira is one of my favorites—he’s always exciting to watch. I also love Israel Adesanya and Alexander Volkanovski, but really, I watch a lot of MMA. There’s something about the sport that draws me in, no matter who’s fighting.

4. How Did the Knee Injury Feel? And What’s Your Favorite Meal During Training?

We all know that knee injury wasn’t fun, but it’s in the past now. Thankfully, I’ve recovered fully. When it comes to training meals, there’s nothing like a good steak. Whether I’m in training camp or not, steak is my go-to meal to fuel my body.

5. When Is Your Next Fight? Is Jon Jones in the Cards?

I’ve been getting a lot of questions about my next fight. The truth is, we’re still in negotiations, so we don’t have a set date yet. But I’m always training and staying ready. As soon as the fight is booked, I’ll be prepared. And yes, Jon Jones is definitely on my radar, but we’ll just have to wait and see how things play out.

6. What’s Your Favorite Tattoo Style?

When it comes to tattoos, I’m a fan of pretty much all styles. But if I had to choose, I really like Japanese or oriental tattoos. I also love old school designs, as well as black and gray tattoos and photo realism. Overall, I just enjoy tattoos in general—they’re a great form of personal expression.

7. How Do You Stay Motivated Between Fights?

A lot of people wonder how I stay motivated with the long breaks between fights. Honestly, it’s pretty easy—I don’t want to get my ass kicked in front of millions of people! The motivation is always there because I’m constantly pushing to get better. I never train just for six weeks before a fight; it’s an ongoing process for me.

8. Do You Think You Could Have Beaten Brock Lesnar in His Prime?

Yes, I believe I would’ve beaten Brock Lesnar in his prime. Why? Because I’m simply better. I know a lot of people respect Lesnar for his strength and wrestling, but when it comes down to it, I just believe I’m a more complete fighter.

9. What’s Your Go-To Cardio Routine for Fighters?

For anyone looking to improve their cardio for MMA, my best advice is to focus on sparring and conditioning drills with a partner. While running, biking, and swimming are great for general fitness, nothing beats the specific conditioning of MMA training. Get into the cage, push yourself, and make your cardio as close to a real fight as possible.

10. Who Has Taught You the Most in MMA?

Every fight teaches me something new, even if it’s just a quick finish. Whether I win or lose, I always learn more about myself and my fighting style. So, I’d say that every opponent I’ve faced has taught me valuable lessons, even if they don’t always show up in the most obvious ways.

11. What Are Your Thoughts on Other Martial Arts?

I don’t really see MMA as a collection of separate martial arts—I think of it as its own sport now. I love the fact that MMA allows me to mix different disciplines together. Training MMA as a whole is way more fun than restricting myself to one martial art. It’s all about blending the techniques and making them work together.
