Law Roach, the esteemed stylist known for his work with Zendaya, has shared his thoughts on the highly anticipated theme for the 2025 Met Gala: “Super Fine Tailoring: Black Style.” Inspired by Monica L. Miller’s book Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity, this year’s event will focus on the evolution of Black men’s fashion and their significant contributions to the industry.
In an exclusive interview with E! News during the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show on October 15th, Roach expressed his excitement about the theme, stating, “I am pleasantly surprised and honored that such a huge body is finally paying homage to the contributions that my people have made to fashion. It makes me feel good.”
Despite his enthusiasm, Roach remained coy about his attendance, saying, “I don’t know; we don’t know yet. It’s early. It’s really early.”
Renowned for crafting some of Zendaya’s most memorable looks, including the striking gown she wore at the 2021 Venice Film Festival and the avant-garde robot suit at the Dune: Part Two premiere, Roach’s creative vision has left a lasting mark on the fashion landscape. For the 2024 Met Gala, he styled Zendaya, who co-chaired the event alongside Bad Bunny, Jennifer Lopez, and Chris Hemsworth, in two stunning outfits that beautifully represented the “Garden of Time” theme.
As the fashion world eagerly awaits the 2025 Met Gala, Law Roach’s insights promise to highlight the rich history and style of Black designers and influencers, making the event a celebration of culture and creativity.
